Illinois Wildlife Program

Living native Illinois birds and mammals steal the show in this educational program. Some of the stars are Nutkin the gray squirrel, Mrs. Brown the barred owl and White Feather the barn owl.

The program is entertaining as well as informative. Licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator and Educator Marge Bjorklund tells the fascinating stories of the individual animals, who were injured in the wild and now help educate the public about the wonders of our native wildlife. The natural history of each species and its ecological importance are explained. Students and visitors learn that all living things are important and essential to our world.

Midwest Wild Weather

Are You Wild About Weather?

Let Lakeview Museum storm into your school with 11 interactive weather exhibits for a Wild Weather Week! This Set of exhibits exposes 4th through 8th grade students to the science of the Midwest's Wild Weather. Through dramatic hands-on experiences, students will explore science curriculum concepts that are the foundation of Illinois State Science Goals in weather and meteorology.

This program was developed under grant from the National Science Foundation. A full-week program is available to your school for just $360, plus the cost of transportation. (Many schools provide their own transportation.) Beyond ten miles from Lakeview, add the standard IRS rate per mile.

Your school's Wild Weather Week springs into action when Lakeview's Wild Weather exhibits arrive at your school. During the week these hands-on activities are in your school, guided exploration time for students will be supplemented with a full day of live science demonstrations ("Explainers") with a museum educator.

We are now scheduling for the 2009/20010 school year.
