Lakeview Museum Pre-Kindergarten Series
Director/Educator, Pamela Jones "Mrs. Pamela", brings directing/teaching qualification and experience from the Quad Cities and Quincy Illinois. Educator Assistant Kimberly Adams "Mrs. Kim", brings assisting qualification and experience from Bloomington, Illinois, and "Miss Nancy" Hoover, lead Substitute Educator, has over 20 years professional educating experience. Intern Volunteers from area colleges and universities, including Bradley University of Illinois, Illinois Community College, etc. provide "extra hands" for many of our "hands on" adventures"
Our fall 4 year olds Pre-Kindergarten adventures include (but are not limited to):
- Basic skills needed for smooth transitions into Kindergarten
- Self-actualization of each child as he/she moves from concrete to abstract thinking skills and begins to discover his/her own unique "treasure within" (passion, likes, dislikes, ability to make "age appropriate choices", etc.
- Socialization with emphasis on: basic manners, sharing, turn-taking, and "using my words to express my emotions, wants, likes and desires"
- Planetarium visits
- Discovery Center visits
- Gallery visits with changing exhibits
- Art studio experiences creating art "from within"
- School loan material use focusing on multi-cultures
- Specialist guests, parties family events... and more

Statement of Philosophy
Lakeview Museum’s Pre-Kindergarten Series provides monthly balanced age-appropriate experiences uniquely rooted in the arts and sciences. Each enrollee receives special instruction in art, science, museum offerings and more. The Pre-Kindergarten Series activities utilize the unique facilities of Lakeview Museum on a daily basis.
- To help your child develop a positive self-image by providing many opportunities for success.
- To help your child recognize his/her own feelings and develop confidence in handling them.
- To provide unique age-appropriate experiences in a safe, healthy environment with all precautions taken to avoid harm. Proper health procedures and nutritional guidelines are followed to maintain healthy bodies.
- To help your child develop as a unique person. Individual differences are recognized and accepted with participants encouraged to choose activities, express themselves in many different ways, and execute their own ideas. Space and time is provided for individual as well as group activities.
- To help your child develop the ability to function within a group. Experiences are provided that enable your child to learn about getting along with others and accepting responsibility.
- To help your child achieve maximum use of his/her body by providing opportunities to develop confidence in motor skills, both gross and fine motor.
- To help your child build basic concepts and grow in intellectual development by providing activities that are challenging and stimulating. Active investigation is encouraged with time and opportunity for your child to express curiosity through questioning, exploration and experimentation.
- To help your child to be creative, to produce something unique — an expression of himself/herself.
- To help your child develop an appreciation of beauty by being exposed to aesthetically pleasing experiences.
Lakeview Museum’s Pre-Kindergarten Series has the following goals and objectives:
FEE SCHEDULE FOR THE 2011/2012 PRE-KINDERGARTEN 9 MONTH SERIES
The Lakeview Museum Pre-Kindergarten Series (9 months) will begin in September 2011 and continue through May 2012. All Pre-Kindergarten Series families will receive a Lakeview Museum Family Membership based upon enrollment in the series.
