Your host, Sheldon Schafer, VP of Education & Curator of the Solar System, will take you on a guided tour of the universe with our state-of-the-art Zeiss planetarium equipment as you relax with a glass of wine. Each evening’s presentation will include a section on the current sky, finding the planets, one of our feature selections and the Uniview Experience. In the Uniview portion, you will use an X-Box controller to set your own course through the stars as you try your hand at flying the planetarium instrument. This will be an informal evening following the inclinations of those attending. Refreshments included. Preregistration encouraged at (309) 686-7000, ext. 145
NASA Climate Days
February 18, 2012 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Join us at Lakeview Museum for an exploration of the science of climate change, presented by volunteers from Global Warming Solutions Group.Workshops, seminars and hands-on activities exploring climate science will take place all weekend.
Museum members – free
Non-members – $5 for any or all of the presentations
National Engineers Week
February 19, 2012 1–4 p.m.
Hands-on activities, exhibits, demostrations & videos. Talk to the engineers and explore engineering careers.
There is no charge for Engineers Week activities; however, regular gallery and planetarium admission fees apply. Call (309) 686-7000 for more information.
Interplanetary 5K Race/1 Mile Walk

Run or walk through portions of the world’s largest model of the solar system — an experience that is out of this world. The total distance for the 5K runners will be represent the distance from Earth to Jupiter.

Dinosaur Egg Hunt
Forget the Peeps, Dinosaurs Roar!
Monday, April 9, 1–4 p.m.
Do your kids have the day off school? Join us for an egg hunt with a twist. We will have activities in the galleries, light snacks in the lobby, and dinosaur fun for all.
1 p.m. Activities begin (including dinosaur egg race, design a dino and much more!)
2 p.m. Dinosaur costume contest
3 p.m. Dinosaur egg hunt
